Badminton veterans Association of South Australia

(BVASA)

BVASA members comprise players of all standards who are aged 35 years and over.   Our normal practice/social play time is 2.00 pm to 5.00 p.m. each Saturday, and 10 a.m.  to 12 noon on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and 7:30 to 9:30 Thursday evenings.  Games are played at SA Badminton Headquarters at 42 Rutland Avenue, Lockleys.

Our annual membership fee is $40.00 per member which also covers SABA membership if required.  This entitles members to play on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, Saturday afternoons, Thursday night competition and all BVASA tournaments (entry fee required).

Our fee for Saturday afternoons is $14.00 per player,   Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Thursday evenings cost $8.00.  Feather shuttles are used for all sessions.

Partners of members who do not play in Vets’ badminton can join as a Social Member for $50.00.  This allows them to attend social functions at the same price as members.

Badminton Veterans Association of South Australia (BVASA) is an Incorporated club and is affiliated with the South Australian Badminton Association Incorporated (SABA) its headquarters shall be in the State of South Australia at such a place, as its Committee shall from time to time determine

The objectives for which the Association is formed are to:

Foster and promote the game of Badminton, particularly for those aged thirty-five years and over, and to promote fellowship and goodwill among its members.  

Provide the avenues for members to play social and competitive badminton in a fair and friendly environment. 

to respectively acknowledge different abilities and skills of players and treat all players in a fair and compassionate manner. 

Promote social and competitive badminton by providing tournaments and matches, alone and with any other Associations and to give or contribute towards prizes, trophies and awards.  

Where possible to do so, support SABA in promoting badminton across all ages and levels within South Australia. 

Do all such lawful acts that are necessary for the carrying out of the objectives and which are within the constitution.  

Act as a co-ordinating body.  

The association shall have all the powers conferred by section 25 of the Act.  

The main events organized by the BVASA are:

  1. The March Carnival is held each year on the Saturday and Sunday of the long weekend for teams of 6 players (3 men and 3 women).  This tournament attracts many teams from the Metropolitan area, Country and Interstate.  Matches comprise doubles and mixed doubles.  Matches are played at Lockleys and other venues if required. 
  2. The November Carnival is held at Lockleys in mid-November, with players nominating individually and the Committee making up teams.  This event is held on Saturday until approx. 5.30 p.m., (an evening barbeque or meal may be arranged) and continues over to Sunday, commencing 9.30 a.m. until approximately 2.30 p.m.  This tournament is usually supported by players from the metropolitan and country areas.  Matches comprise doubles and mixed doubles.
  3. Country events.  The Mildura tournament, held in September and the Barossa tournament held in May is promoted and supported by the BVASA.  

 

During the year SABA and the BVASA arrange various tournaments. Details of these will be available on our website or Facebook page. 
Where possible Social events such as dinners, Barbecues, and other social events are also scheduled throughout the year.
